The Project of Ivan and his Father
Ivan's Father, Robert, pictured in his field with children from his village. Robert is a builder and has 5 children to support through school. Ivan is the first from the village to go to university and the project will pay his fees. They live in a village called Muyebe, about 10 miles from Kabale.
| Date | Update |
| Nov 2009 | We have planted 2 fields this season: peas and potatoes. They are both grown well. Ivan is due back from University in December after his first term of year 2. ![]() ![]() |
| October 2009 | All fields including the swamp have now been harvested. The yields were pretty good and the potatoes from the swamp were sent to Kampala to be sold, since the price is better. Ivan is now back at university starting his second year. We have now replanted one of his fields with peas and another field is about to the planted with potatoes. |
| 16 May 2009 | The field of potatoes and wheat is growing well: Ivan will also be planting some land we are hiring in the 'swamp'! This is very fertile and has much water, so harvest should be good. To cover his high university fees, it is going to take planting several fields. |
| 14 April 2009 | Ivan's field has now been planted, half with potatoes and half with wheat. Unfortunately, some of the potatoes we took died in his storehouse - we are trying to remedy this. Ivan is just finishing his second term and UCU and is taking exams as we speak. He will return to Kabale at the end of April and is keen to assist with all the projects. He is also looking at sourcing some Rukiga bibles from Kampala for us. We look forward to having him back. |
| 28 Feb 2009 | Today we took potatoes from Emmy's over to Ivan's Father ready for planting. We also delivered 10 sacks of manure! We found out today that Ivan's father had taken a loan to pay for Ivan's university fees and that he must pay 10% interest each month. This is obviously crippling. We look forward to the harvest providing funds to repay this dept and pay future fees. |
| 20 Feb 2009 | The field of Ivan's father, Robert, has now been dug and is ready for planting with potatoes from Emmy. We have also constructed the storehouse at his home. Profits from his project will pay the university fees for Ivan. |
